An Eastern Shore Bed and Breakfast
Fig Street Inn is a fully renovated, boutique−style Eastern Shore Bed and Breakfast located in Cape Charles, Virginia. Donna & Greg purchased the property in February 2010 after it had been vacant for many years and have done extensive renovations and updates to create a unique and welcoming lodging experience for the Eastern Shore. They continue to make improvements to the property as guest needs change, and to keep the inn fresh and interesting for returning guests.
A stay at the Fig Street Inn includes: guestrooms with private baths and fabulous amenities, communal guest fridge, beach towels, umbrellas, chocolates and sweets from our treat bar, parking, wifi throughout, and breakfast each morning.
About the House
The large white home at the corner of Fig Street and Tazewell Avenue was built in 1899 as the personal residence for the W.B. Wilson family, owners of Cape Charles’ early hardware and department stores. At the time, the house was located outside the town’s boundaries which ended on the other side of Fig Street and the home’s main entrance faced Fig Street.
This grand home has been operated as an Eastern Shore Bed and Breakfast since the 1990s. The home was vacant from about 2007 until it was reopened in 2011 as Fig Street Inn. Donna and Greg are the 4th family to call this corner of Fig and Tazewell “home”. It is the largest residential lot in the Town of Cape Charles at just under one acre.
Common areas, both inside and out, welcome guests to relax and enjoy their time away. From the grounds and porches outside, to the parlor and dining room inside, as well as our treat bar, we hope you make yourself at home.
About Our Breakfast
Breakfast is served each morning by reservation from 7:30 am to 10 am at individual tables in our Dining Room on the first floor. We offer a full breakfast menu that includes a selection of hot entrees, homemade pastry, fresh fruit, breakfast meats, juice, tea, coffee, as well as many other items. Guests place orders the evening before, as well as select a time for their breakfast. Seatings are first-come, first-reserved, and times may be limited based on how many guests are in-house and what seatings have already been selected. If you require a specific time, guests may arrange at booking or prior to arrival.
Early coffee is available starting at 7 am by pre-order the day before. A tray will be placed outside your room at the scheduled time – we do not knock just in case you are still sleeping, but you can know the tray will be there as requested. Please inform us of any dietary restrictions prior to arrival and we will do our best to accommodate your requests.
We also offer a “Stay Your Way” rate that does not include food and beverage service. If you are heading out before 7:30 am, want to sleep in, are meeting friends downtown for breakfast, or simply don’t need breakfast, our “Stay Your Way” rate saves you a little bit on our daily rate. You can always change your mind and add breakfast on select or all days of your stay for an additional fee. Click images below to view them larger.

What Our Guests Are Saying
“My wife and I decided to stop in Cape Charles for a couple of days on a mini-tour of the Eastern Shore. Greg and Donna were excellent hosts, having created a wonderful atmosphere in their home. Our room was well appointed, water and other beverages were available from a refrigerator on the floor. Breakfast was served graciously and bountifully. I would highly recommend Fig Street if you are traveling in the area. It is an old time treasure in a town that is the same!” Matthew S
